Don’t get mad, get Leviton Structered Wiring and be GLAD !
Are you experiencing static phone lines? Is the picture fuzzy every time you go to watch Jay Leno? Does your internet keep disconnecting right when you are finishing the download of the latest episode of “Desperate House Wives”?
Do not get mad, get Leviton Structured Wiring, and you will be glad for years to come! Now is the time to put in a Leviton Wiring system, whether you live in a single family home, town home or a condominium. The wiring is simple, and having it well organized will take care of those reception problems, and slow downloads for years to come. The best part is, once installed it is easy to troubleshoot and upgrade.
Start by picking a central location where the wiring will terminate. This could be in the basement, utility room, or laundry room in a condominium. Once all of the wires are ran, install the enclosure box preferable between two studs (in a condominium this might require cutting into drywall).
For best results, ensure that you are using RG-6 cable for your television needs, and CAT 5 wire for telephone, networking wiring. To check that you have the right wires cut a piece, and take it to your local electrical supply store to have it verified.
The next step will be to bring all of the lines into the enclosure, and terminate them. Run TV lines separate from the networking/phone lines into the wiring center. To terminate TV lines use a crimper kit (http://www.amazon.com/DataShark-70018-Compression-Stripper-Connectors/dp/B000934F3Q) widely available, where as the CAT 5 lines simply terminate at the demark point designed for the panel.
You are almost done!
From here, you will need a TV splitter to connect all of the runs, get one with enough ports to connect all of the lines, but do not exceed the number of runs. Use CAT 5 jumper cables to connect the terminal block to your router, which in turn will connect to the internet modem. The rest of the CAT 5 lines used for telephone will connect to the outside feed.
Now, that it is all set and done you can close the cover and rest reassured that the connective problem is outdated. Any further changes or upgrades will be easy to implement, as all of the lines are easily identified\labeled.
Sit back, and surf the NET!
